The Philippines' Resorts and Beaches: What to Bring and Wear on Your Trip

Please remember that although swimwear and beach wear is acceptable on the beach and at poolsides, these are not appropriate for walking around town even when you're on holiday. Do pack lightweight breathable casual wear for sightseeing, shopping and dining. Add sunglasses and a hat.

Some restaurants and cruise ships require dressier attire and footwear for dinner. To be safe bring an outfit or two to cover these requirements. You don't have to go black tie. Anything you'd wear to a special dinner will do. They make good photo opps for your vacation, too. Just don't forget your camera.

Check if your destination offers treks to caves or forests and if you plan to join, pack appropriate shoes and outfits. Binoculars may come in handy.

If you're particular about your brands in toiletries, pack small versions of them as you cannot be sure to find your exact preference where you're going. Make sure this includes lots of sunscreen and lip block, as well as mosquito repellant.

Wearing glasses or contacts? Pack a spare, too.

Do your gadgets need battery charging? Bring a 110-220 voltage converter and various types of plug adapters. Bring spare batteries for other gadgets.

A flashlight is always a good idea. Make sure it's always close at hand.

Finally, have an alarm clock to make sure you wake up on time and don't miss out on the fun!
